Home Schooling and Intellectual Freedom

April 25, 2008

Check out for a new recording of a speech by home schooling activist Alexandra Goldburt at the San Pedro LP dinner meeting on April 17.  Alexandra warns of government plans to remove the freedom for citizens to homeschool your kids, relates horror stories experienced by home schoolers, and advises us how to defend this freedom, which is one of our principal defenses against government propaganda and statist indoctrination.  Raised in the former USSR, Alexandra knows about indoctrination.

The left loves to protect their tenured collectivist hacks in universities by claiming the right of intellectual freedom. Yet they have no problem with public schools teaching radical environmentalist propoaganda to kids without even a hint that the information may be controversial.

This happened in my 14-year old daughter’s science class the other day. The teacher showed a part of Al Gore’s propaganda blockbuster, An Inconvenient Truth, presenting is as cold fact.

Obviously this hits home with the Luddhunter. Such indoctrination is unacceptable. The tempting solution is to grab the teacher by the neck and inform he or she that the next time that piece of shit flick is showed to a child by him/her, he/she will be digging the DVD out of his/her totalitarian ass.

But the legal way to do it is by a letter campaign. Write the school, addressign the teacher, copy the principal, complain clearly, and say you expect an answer within a week, and if you don’t get it, you will forward the letter to the superintendent of the school board and the State dept of education. Then do it if you get no answer. If you get no answer from above, publish the letters on a blog like this one (wordpress has a free blog service), and write your newspaper with the story of the propaganda and the non-response.

I have done step one of the above, but prefer to keep the actual letter private for now, until I get my answer.

Ize a-comin’ to the National Libertarian Party Convention!

Will be looking to

1. Interview some libbers with some eagle-eyed insight on the issues of the day, and some eagle-talon barbs for the Ludds.

2. Become a delegate.  Don’t know how, but I’m told it can be some, as long as I’m a card-carrying LP member.

3. Get a natural Rocky Mountain High, and see it rainin’ fire in the sky.

You can still get 99$ rooms if you say you’re going to the convention.  Call the hotel on 303 893 3333.  Ignore the convention website page which says rooms are no longer available, that is an anti-truth.

Here’s a letter I just wrote to the Nature Conservancy.  I’ll reprint the response if I get one.

Dear Ludds at the Nature Conservancy

Your radio ad now running in Washington State about climate change destroying habitats which implies that humans are causing animal extinctions is a propagandistic crock of horse hockey.  Your apocalytic wailings are the product of ideological groupthink that disregards reasonable probabilities and advocates return to a pre-industrial utopian wet dream.  What you forget is that “nature” has almost rendered us extinct a few times in early human history, and will do so again if we do not fortify our habitats with walls and heat and supply chains and stores of food.  This takes industrial capacity.  De-industrialize, and we shall certainly become extinct by cataclysm.   I’m for Industrial Conservancy, and I suspect you are for yourselves, but not for others.
